In today’s mercurial and cyber-run societies, maintaining positive mental health is more important than ever. It's necessary to make time for moments of peace and serenity between the chaos in society and your daily life.
One way is through the calming effects of nature on your mental health, which positively affects your mental well-being.
This article explores nature's positive impact on mental well-being and provides a favorable break from daily life stressors.

The Benefits of Nature
Scientific studies and research have regularly proven participating in outdoor activities, such as walking, hiking, and gardening, has beneficial effects on your mental health.
They have shown being in nature can reduce stress, ease symptoms of depression and anxiety, and improve your mood in general.
One study in the Journal of Environmental Psychology discovered a correlation between spending time in nature and lower levels of various chemicals, such as cortisol, known as the stress hormone, and a correlation between being in nature and an augmented sense of relaxation and calm.

Stress Reduction
As we’ve already seen, being in nature promotes mental well-being, decreasing stress levels and increasing relaxation. Exposure to nature lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone), lowers your blood pressure and heart rate, and provides a haven leading to mental and physical relaxation.
In nature, you use almost all your senses. Sights, sounds, and odors promote peace and release stress.
Being In Nature
The sights, sounds, and smells outdoors are a therapeutic escape from the daily grind and provide the opportunity to relax, unwind, recharge, renew energy, and recondition balance to an individual's emotional and mental health.
Being in nature, whether walking, hiking in the woods, or watching the sunrise or sunset, benefits one's mental and emotional well-being.
